Poetical Forms

A vast range of poetical forms have been created over the centuries. Within the English language the main styles of forms have altered drawing influence from older forms of other cultures, such as the Romans. More recently in English history poets have looked outside to other cultures for new forms to use. Some have been adopted and others like the Haiku have been adapted.

This page provides a starting point to search for new forms to use, or find out more about a particular form. To search either enter the first letter of a form you are interested in or the whole name and press the search button.
